Bec and Bridge has been the go to label for girls looking for that sexy and playful piece that toes the line between achievable and aspirational fashion. They’re known for their take on the party dress and chic separates with sleek silhouettes and contoured lines.
The designers Becky Cooper and Bridget Yorston first met in 2000 while studying for a Bachelors in Fashion Design and Textiles at the University of Technology, Sydney. As Yorston said in a Vogue Australia interview, “we started out just as really close friends doing all our assignments together and our style really just morphed together.” The girls experimented with customizing their own denim jeans by spraying, dyeing and distressing them. This evolved into doing it for their friends, selling into boutiques, starting their own denim line, then eventually their own ready to wear line that is now Bec & Bridge.
In 2004, Becky and Bridget were invited to showcase their line at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia. The collection was very well received by the industry and buyers and before long the line was picked up by boutiques throughout the country. Since then Bec & Bridge have also expanded internationally and is stocked in hundreds of premier boutiques, department stores and online stores. In 2015, they launched their first Bec & Bridge swim collection.
It’s clear why the label has been a favourite for Australian girls for such a long time. They have their finger on the pulse of what girls want in the way they dress. The clothes are stylish and sexy yet very relatable. Bec & Bridge is for the modern girl that wants an outfit to take over the world in!!
