Nana Judy is a fashion forward menswear line that embodies an attitude of rebellion, wit and youth inspired by the streets. They take risks with their designs while keeping their clothes very relatable and easy to wear. Fascinated with anything but the norm, Nana Judy pulls from real life experiences that speak to a spirit of adventure and creativity.
Founder Glenn Coleman first started the label at 19 years old in a garage in Kensington, Melbourne after studying marketing at University. In fact, it’s the only job he’s ever had! Fashion has always been in his family and he spent time as a child watching his grandmother, a seamstress, create custom pieces for high profile clients in the late 60’s into the 70’s, finding the creativity of design fascinating. It is from this heritage that Coleman seeks to transcend the status quo of fashion, continuously pushing the boundaries of streetwear with each piece he makes.
Influenced by this rich history and combined with a new found awareness of the renowned UK store, Grandma Takes A Trip, which catered to the fashion needs of the famous from The Beatles to the Rolling Stones, Coleman conceptualized Nana Judy. The name itself speaks the story, combining his history and inspiration with the name of his Grandmother’s Dalmatian, Judy. NANA stands for loyalty and legacy, while JUDY stands for the unique and rare elements he brings to his brand, just like the spots on his Grandmother’s dog.
In addition to pushing the envelope of fashion, Nana Judy has made a name for themselves by infiltrating the social scene with legendary events and parties. Teaming up with huge names like Beyond The Valley, FTL and Coachella to bridge the gap between life and fashion, any event they are involved in is sure to be epic.
He has certainly come a long way from that garage in Kensington with his first runway show debuted at the New Generation show at Mercedes Benz fashion week and now, internationally known and found 8000 miles away, right here at AUST.!
