Valley Eyewear have exploded onto the eyewear scene and it’s not hard to figure out why. Their bold frames and edgy designs are unmistakable when you see them on the street. They are known for their oversized look, heavy acetates, and playful colour choices. Even though the frames are top quality, being 100% handmade with a Carl Ziess lens, the price point is really accessible starting at $199 for most of their frames. While they began with doing sunglasses, they have since expanded their range to also making high fashion optical frames.
The brand originated from mad creative genius Michael Crawley when he felt like there wasn’t enough eyewear brands out there that catered to dudes with big heads! As well as previously being a professional body boarder, Crawley had experience with working with Quicksilver and his wife Tenielle used to be head of marketing there. Together with their young family of two kids, Dash and Seylah, they had the experience and the guts to start their own label.
They blew onto the scene with their original aesthetic and unique creative direction. Crawley’s inspirations range from music to art to photography to video. Many of the Valley campaigns you see Crawley shoots and directs himself, often representing something you’d see from a super stylish horror film. You see this theme continued in their frames, with names such as Trachea, Dead Coffin Club, Corpus and Larynx.
Starting as a little family business on the Gold Coast of Australia, with Aunty Kez and Dash’s primary school teacher as some of their employees, Valley Eyewear has now become an internationally recognized and loved brand. They are stocked in carefully chosen special boutiques and selected majors world wide, and they have also worked on awesome collaborations with people such as Marilyn Manson, Kat Von D, and Nick Fouquet.
Valley Eyewear is for the people who are looking for something different from their eyewear. Something bold with no shortage of personality. This brand is for those that care about quality and craftsmanship, and for those that don’t want to break the bank account for it. It’s all about having a hell good time in a stylish pair of frames.
